DUBLIN CITY MARKETS - FIRE CONDITIONS

There are special Fire conditions in place for all Dublin City Food Markets which must be complied with. This is especially a condition in Harcourt Street Market.

REGULATIONS FOR STALLS USING GAS APPLIANCES IN DUBLIN CITY FOOD MARKETS


STALL Requirements for Fire Extinquishers

1 NON COOKING
1 4kg dry powder extinguisher and 1 2kg co2 fire extinguisher

2 COOKING
2kg ABC dry powder or 9LAFFF and 1 2kg co2 fire extinguisher add a 1m2 light duty fire blanket

3 DEEP FAT FRYING
6Lwet chemical <class f > 2 times 2 kg ABC dry powder fire extinguisher and 1 times 2kg co2 fire extinguisher and a 1.8 heavy duty fire blanket .

Our regulations for Gas Appliances that are used in our markets are as follows

No Butane gas allowed - ie yellow bottles. Only propane - red bottles

No manual cut offs on top of gas bottle - Only approved automatic regulators allowed, which cut off the gas supply automatically from the bottle, when there is a tear or break in the hose system.

All bottles to be caged with lock on cage

No rubber hoses - All hoses connecting from gas bottles to appliances to be made from flexible metal wire.

Two manual cut off levers - 1 at cooking point and 1 on gas bottle being installed.

Gas bottle to be 5 meters from cooking area

3 meter spacing between stalls using gas appliances - buffer zone between stalls which would be none gas using stall.

Correct calibration of mille bars for cooking - ie 28/56 mille bars etc. Separate line per mille bar band

No static lines to and from bottle to cooking appliances - ie only flexible steel lines allowed

Fire Extinguisher - Compliant industrial fire Extinguisher is required - not small domestic type.

This system is designed to produce maximum safety for all gas users, visitors and personnel in the market.
